Baku puts peace first: Azerbaijani speaker addresses PABSEC on regional stability
Azerbaijan has consistently supported peaceful coexistence and the development of dialogue, said Sahiba Gafarova, Chairperson of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC), at the 65th plenary session of the PABSEC held in Baku.
Gafarova emphasised that Azerbaijan is among the countries of the region actively seeking joint solutions and placing great importance on peace and cooperation, Caliber.Az reports, referencing local media.
“Thanks to the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan has achieved significant success in all areas. Our country also contributes to shaping the regional and global agenda. Azerbaijan is the only country that, after World War II, has liberated its occupied territories and restored its territorial integrity,” she stated.
She also announced that participants of the 65th PABSEC plenary session taking place in Baku will visit Azerbaijan’s territories that were previously under occupation.
According to Gafarova, the purpose of the visit is to provide foreign delegates an opportunity to see the situation on the liberated lands firsthand.
As a reminder, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) was established in 1993 as the legislative dimension of the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC).
It brings together the parliaments of BSEC member states to promote economic collaboration, democratic governance, and peace in the Black Sea region.
PABSEC provides a platform for inter-parliamentary dialogue and contributes to regional policy development through recommendations and resolutions. Azerbaijan has been an active member since the Assembly’s founding.
