Baku releases new data on missing citizens from Karabakh Wars As a result of Armenia’s military aggression
Azerbaijan has updated the official number of citizens missing as a result of Armenia’s military aggression, according to the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons of Azerbaijan.
The commission, cited by local media, reported that a total of 4,005 Azerbaijani citizens are currently registered as missing. Of these, 3,999 individuals went missing during the First Karabakh War, while 6 others disappeared during and after the Second Karabakh War, referred to in Azerbaijan as the Patriotic War.
Of those missing from the First Karabakh War, data is provided for 3,998 individuals. Among them, 3,218 are military personnel, while 781 are civilians, including 71 children, 287 women, and 334 elderly persons. In terms of gender, 3,711 of the missing are men, and 288 are women.
The commission also stated that the identities of 220 individuals previously listed as missing and believed to have been killed during the First Karabakh War have now been established. Their remains have been returned to their families for burial.
