Belarus, Azerbaijan deepen ties without roadmap, says deputy PM
Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Natalia Petkevitch has highlighted the high level of mutual understanding underpinning Belarus–Azerbaijan relations, noting that the two countries no longer require a formal roadmap to guide their cooperation.
Petkevitch said that the partnership between Minsk and Baku has reached a stage where both sides “simply know where and how to go,” reflecting the depth of strategic alignment and trust between the nations, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
While acknowledging that a new roadmap for economic cooperation is likely to be developed, the deputy premier emphasized that it would be based not on bureaucratic formalities, but on a shared vision for future growth.
“I believe that the most effective form of cooperation is when we don’t need to approve or sign anything,” Petkevitch said.
She further underlined that the long-standing and successful collaboration between Azerbaijan and Belarus has already yielded tangible results across multiple sectors, reinforcing the strength of their bilateral ties.
Building on this foundation of mutual trust, Petkevitch noted that economic cooperation between the two nations is expanding into new areas — particularly transport and logistics, where Belarus sees significant potential.
Belarus is seeking to capitalize on Azerbaijan’s growing network of transport and logistics routes, viewing them as an important avenue for strengthening bilateral cooperation and boosting its own economic development, Petkevitch said.
Petkevitch noted that Azerbaijan’s expanding infrastructure offers promising opportunities for both joint projects and national economic advancement.
“Azerbaijan is developing additional transport and logistics routes that we would also like to use — both for joint projects and for the development of our own national economy,” she said.
The deputy prime minister added that logistics cooperation has become another key area of dialogue between Minsk and Baku, reflecting their broader efforts to enhance strategic and economic collaboration across multiple sectors.
