Black box of crashed Turkish military plane arrives in Türkiye
The black box of the Turkish Air Force’s Lockheed C-130 Hercules military transport aircraft that crashed in Georgia on November 11 has been delivered to Türkiye.
Recovered yesterday, the device is expected to clarify what happened to the aircraft, which vanished from radar 27 minutes after takeoff, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
Meanwhile, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone conversation with Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili regarding the ongoing search and rescue efforts at the crash site.
According to the Turkish Presidency’s Communications Directorate, Kavelashvili conveyed his condolences to Erdogan over the loss of the 20 service members on board, while the Turkish president thanked him for the support shown by Georgia.
On November 11, 2025, a Turkish C-130 military transport aircraft crashed in Georgia while en route from Azerbaijan to Türkiye.
The aircraft was carrying 20 members of the Turkish Armed Forces, including technical personnel, all of whom lost their lives.
The crash took place in mountainous terrain near the town of Signagi. Before departure, the aircraft had remained at Ganja Airport in Azerbaijan for nearly two hours, and no technical problems were recorded during pre-flight checks.
Search and recovery teams from both Türkiye and Georgia were deployed to the area, retrieving debris and initiating a joint investigation.
The cause of the incident has not yet been established, with investigators assessing potential technical malfunctions, weather-related factors, or other possible causes.
