bp advances green energy push with first panel deliveries to Azerbaijan's Jabrayil
Approximately 20 percent of the panels required for the construction of the Shafag Solar Power Plant have already been delivered to Azerbaijan’s Jabrayil district.
The update was announced by Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli, bp’s Vice President for the Caspian Region, during the “Customs-Business 2025: Dialogue and Trust” forum held in Baku, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Aslanbayli noted that active construction of the solar plant is expected to begin in the near future.
“The Shafag project represents a new benchmark for us. We previously had no operational activity in this sector. In carrying out import–export procedures for this new direction, we have been working closely with customs authorities. Thanks to their strong support, around 20 percent of our panels have already been delivered to the Jabrayil district,” he said.
He emphasized that bp has long maintained productive cooperation with Azerbaijan’s customs services.
“It is no coincidence that electronic declarations were first introduced within the Shah Deniz 2 project, operated by bp, before being implemented nationwide. Similarly, the ‘green corridor’ system was initially piloted within our projects, and following its success, it was expanded on a larger scale. This practice continues today,” Aslanbayli added.
