Brazil welcomes joint statement by Baku, Yerevan
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil has commented on the joint statement by the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration and the Armenian Prime Minister's Office published on December 7.
"The Brazilian government welcomed the joint statement issued on December 7, in which the governments of Azerbaijan and Armenia reaffirm their intention to normalise relations and reach a peace agreement based on respect for the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity," Caliber.Az reports citing the Brazilian government agencies portal.
“The joint statement also refers to the mutual release of military servicemen, Armenia's support for Azerbaijan's candidacy for COP-29 and confidence-building measures between the two neighbors.
Congratulating the governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan on this initiative, which marks the beginning of a new era of dialogue, cooperation and prosperity in the South Caucasus, the Brazilian government reaffirms its confidence that only diplomatic solutions based on international law can lead to a lasting resolution of conflicts and political differences," the statement by the ministry noted.
