CIS marks 65 years of human spaceflight with joint statement in Moscow PHOTO
The Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) has adopted a joint statement marking the 65th anniversary of the first human spaceflight, recognising that the exploration and use of outer space should benefit all peoples and countries.
At the meeting held in Moscow on April 17, the participants discussed further steps toward integration, Caliber.Az reports, citing the CIS Executive Committee.
During the talks, where Azerbaijan was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Samir Sharifov, the sides exchanged views on current issues of the international agenda and cooperation within the Commonwealth framework.

The Council of Foreign Ministers approved decisions on two key educational organisations, as well as a number of draft documents to be submitted to the CIS’s highest governing bodies—the Council of Heads of State and the Council of Heads of Government.
The next CIS Foreign Ministers’ Council meeting is expected to take place in October in Turkmenistan.
