Deadly fire at garment factory in northern Egypt leaves eight dead PHOTO
A large fire broke out on the morning of September 26 at a garment factory in the El-Yamani area of El Mahalla El Kubra, located in Egypt’s Gharbia Governorate, killing eight people and injuring dozens more.
The Ministry of Health said 26 fully equipped ambulances were immediately dispatched to the site as part of its emergency response, according to Egyptian media.
Ambulance teams transported 35 injured individuals to El Mahalla Public Hospital, where they are receiving treatment under the supervision of specialised medical staff.
According to the Ministry’s initial report, eight people were confirmed dead in the incident. The Ministry expressed its condolences to the families of the victims and wished a swift recovery to the wounded.
Officials added that 15 ambulances remain stationed at the site to provide ongoing medical support. Field and central teams are closely monitoring the situation, while Civil Defence units continue rescue and debris removal operations to search for additional victims. The work is being carried out in coordination with the relevant authorities to ensure public safety.
The Ministry of Health and Population emphasised that all possible measures are being taken to manage the crisis and provide the highest standard of medical care. It pledged to continue issuing official updates as new information becomes available.
