Deputy minister : Azerbaijan key to Europe's decarbonization and energy stability
Azerbaijan remains firmly committed to supporting Europe’s energy security and decarbonization efforts, both through its dependable natural gas exports and the expansion of its green energy capabilities, Deputy Energy Minister Orkhan Zeynalov stated during his address at Uzbekistan Energy Week.
Zeynalov delivered his remarks during the opening ceremony of the event and the high-level ministerial dialogue titled “System Reliability and Expanding Cooperation”, Caliber.Az reports via domestic media.
Zeynalov underscored the strategic importance of Azerbaijan’s renewable energy initiatives in the Caspian Sea and the broader development of regional green energy corridors. He noted that these efforts align with the global energy transition and reinforce Azerbaijan’s increasingly vital role in helping meet Europe’s dual objectives of reliable energy supply and carbon emissions reduction.
The deputy minister also highlighted Azerbaijan’s strong position in the global energy landscape through its contributions to what he referred to as the “energy trilemma”—a framework focused on ensuring energy affordability, maintaining supply security, and advancing renewable energy sources.
In the context of bilateral engagement, Zeynalov participated in discussions on strengthening energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. The talks placed particular emphasis on the development of a “Central Asia–Azerbaijan” green energy corridor, a project aimed at facilitating regional renewable energy transport and integration.
Uzbekistan Energy Week, taking place from May 13 to 15, is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, Uzbekneftegaz JSC, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and other key national agencies.
The event serves as a major regional platform bringing together key stakeholders in both traditional and renewable energy sectors. It provides an opportunity for the global energy community to exchange views on the future of energy development in Uzbekistan and across Central Asia.
