Deputy PM: Azerbaijan, Russia, and Iran push for barrier-free trade market
Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran are stepping up efforts to create a shared goods market with seamless logistics stretching from the Barents and Baltic Seas to the Persian Gulf.
Speaking at a trilateral meeting in Baku focused on transport, energy and customs cooperation, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk said the three nations have "a great deal of interesting work ahead" to establish a harmonised market with barrier-free logistics, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
"Strong and rapidly developing relations between Russia and Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran, and Iran and Azerbaijan are driving coordinated efforts to improve transport connectivity in the region and ensure seamless logistics from the Barents and Baltic Seas to the Persian Gulf," Overchuk added.
He emphasised that the initiative aims to create the most favourable conditions for producers, exporters and importers across the three countries.
"This is the work that allows our economies to expand, generates new jobs, boosts incomes and improves people's lives," he said.
The meeting brings together government representatives from Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran to discuss closer cooperation in trade, transport and energy.
