Representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan have visited key medical and educational institutions in Khankandi as part of a broader trip to the Karabakh and East Zangazur regions.
During the visit, delegates toured the Karabakh University Clinic and the Faculty of Medicine and Medical Sciences, where they were briefed on healthcare technologies introduced in the area and the training of medical students, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The university dean Samir Babayev provided an overview of the university’s infrastructure and programmes. He said the faculty’s academic building includes classrooms, lecture halls, laboratories, examination rooms, a library, and other facilities equipped with modern technology. Specialized laboratories, including microbiology, histology, and cell culture units, are also housed within the complex.
Officials said the faculty offers a six-year medical degree and a four-year nursing programme, both developed with input from local and international experts and aligned with global standards. The educational model is designed to combine theoretical instruction with practical training at the university clinic, while also encouraging research and leadership development. An elective art program is also included in the curriculum.
The visit was part of a two-day trip involving more than 150 ambassadors, diplomats, military attachés, and representatives from 62 countries and international organizations. The delegation is accompanied by Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration.
