Egyptian minister commends Azerbaijan for promoting spiritual unity, interfaith dialogue
Azerbaijan’s significant contributions to spiritual unity and interfaith dialogue were hailed as Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of Azerbaijan`s State Committee for Work with Religious Associations, has met with Osama al-Azhari, Egypt’s Minister of Endowments.
Mammadov emphasized the robust bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Egypt, attributing this to the diplomatic policies pursued by both nations' presidents, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He praised the initiatives of Azerbaijani leadership, particularly those of President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, for fostering a multicultural environment and safeguarding national and spiritual values.
Mammadov also discussed the successful implementation of large-scale measures to uphold freedom of religion and promote interreligious dialogue.
During the meeting, Mammadov stressed the importance of expanding cooperation between Azerbaijani and Egyptian religious institutions, including the Azerbaijan Institute of Theology and Egypt's religious educational institutions.
Minister al-Azhari commended Azerbaijan’s efforts to enhance spiritual unity, coexistence, and mutual understanding within the Islamic world. He noted that Azerbaijan's initiatives are highly regarded and emphasized the potential for deepening ties between the two countries.
Additionally, discussions with Ibrahim Najm, Secretary General of the World Fatwa Council, underscored the ongoing successful cooperation in religious and spiritual matters. Najm highlighted Azerbaijan’s pivotal role in interreligious dialogue, Islamic solidarity, and combating Islamophobia.
The importance of the upcoming Summit of World Religious Leaders, to be held on the sidelines of the COP29 climate conference in Azerbaijan, was also underlined. This summit will address global challenges and facilitate dialogue among prominent religious figures.
Overall, the meetings underscored Azerbaijan's significant contributions to global interfaith dialogue and its role as a bridge for fostering spiritual and cultural understanding.
