EU-Armenia talks highlight urgency of peace agreement with Azerbaijan
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas underscored the urgency of advancing a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The talks held in Brussels, aimed at deepening Armenia-EU ties, also focused on regional stability and the shared democratic values underpinning the partnership.
The meeting focused on strengthening the partnership between Armenia and the European Union, with particular emphasis on expanding cooperation in various sectors, Caliber.Az reports citing Armenian media.
Both parties outlined a shared vision for the future, highlighting the importance of democracy and peace as foundational principles of their collaboration. Mirzoyan emphasized the tangible results achieved through joint efforts and underscored the EU’s pivotal role in Armenia’s development and regional stability.
The conversation also touched upon upcoming high-level contacts and the key issues to be addressed during these engagements.
A significant part of the dialogue was dedicated to the ongoing peace efforts in the South Caucasus. Mirzoyan and Kallas agreed on the necessity of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which would pave the way for the normalization of interstate relations and long-term stability in the region.
The sides expressed the critical need for strong partnerships based on shared values, especially in the context of the current global uncertainties.
