EU, Azerbaijan to hold consultations on preventing threats to gas infrastructure security
The EU and Azerbaijan may hold consultations to prevent security threats to the natural gas infrastructure which is used for the production, trading, transportation and export of natural gas between the sides, in accordance with the domestic laws, regulations and policies of each side.
The sides agree on the importance of addressing the problem of methane emissions as a major factor in global warming and emphasise the importance of cooperation in advancing intermediate steps to consider Azerbaijan's accession to the Global Methane Pledge, Trend reports referring to the text of the "Memorandum of Understanding on the strategic partnership in the energy sector between the EU, represented by the European Commission, and the Republic of Azerbaijan".
The sides should promote the reduction of methane emissions throughout the supply chain and, in particular, promote projects to measure methane emissions within an internationally recognised measurement standard, the document says.
