Euronews: AzerTelecom chair says digital Silk Way to transform Eurasian connectivity Video
The Digital Silk Way initiative will usher in a new era of Eurasian connectivity by creating the first direct digital link between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, according to Emil Masimov, Chairman of the Board of AzerTelecom.
At the core of the project is the Transcaspian Fibre Optic Cable Line, a flagship infrastructure development designed to serve as a direct digital bridge across the Caspian Sea, Euronews reports.
Masimov said the system will have a capacity of 400 terabits per second, enabling it to support cloud services, hyperscale data traffic and emerging artificial intelligence ecosystems.
He noted that the hybrid subsea–land route will reduce dependence on traditional data transmission pathways, enhance cooperation across Central Asia and contribute to a more secure and diversified digital environment.
According to Masimov, the Digital Silk Way is expected to lay the groundwork for a more innovative and resilient digital future across the wider Eurasian region.
