The first case of monkeypox in Russia has been confirmed in a young man who returned from Europe.
"The first case of monkeypox has been confirmed in Russia. The disease was detected in a young man who returned from a trip to Europe and turned to a medical institution with a characteristic rash," the press service of Rospotrebnadzor told Prime.
Rospotrebnadzor clarified that the disease is mild and there is no threat to the life of the patient. He is isolated and is in a medical institution with an infectious profile.
The department also added that the possibility of the spread of monkeypox in Russia has been stopped, all those who contacted the first Russian who became ill are under the supervision of doctors.
