Fox: Ukraine continues to receive intelligence from US for defence operations
The US is continuing to share some defensive intelligence with Ukraine to protect against incoming Russian strikes, despite an announced pause in intel sharing that raised alarm bells, Fox News Digital has learned.
Three sources familiar with the decision confirmed that intelligence related to force protection and incoming threats would continue, Caliber.Az reports, citing Fox News.
Federal intelligence, the work of the CIA, FBI and human intelligence, has ceased, as has data that helps with offensive Ukrainian strikes against Russians.
Another intelligence source said to expect the pause to be "very temporary in nature," and that the sharing of all data could resume in the coming days.
Notably, the US has recently ceased sharing intelligence with Ukraine concerning Russian military activities amidst the ongoing conflict following Trump's decision to suspend military aid to Kyiv stemming from disputes between President Trump and President Zelenskyy at Oval Office. This cessation affects Ukraine's ability to conduct long-range drone strikes and monitor Russian troops' movements. White House officials suggest that resuming intelligence sharing is contingent upon progress in Trump-proposed peace talks.
This suspension is particularly alarming given Ukraine's heavy reliance on U.S. intelligence for its military operations. The lack of critical data hampers Ukraine's ability to effectively target Russian forces, potentially leading to increased civilian casualties.
The intelligence pause had prompted confusion and alarm from Ukraine and its allies, as its parameters were not entirely clear. However, U.S. intelligence has been a lifeline for Ukraine's forces: defense experts say that ceasing all data-sharing would be a bigger blow to Ukrainian forces than losing military aid from the U.S.
