France ready to participate in defence of Gulf countries, FM says
A naval base in Abu Dhabi was shelled, causing only minor material damage, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said.
Commenting on the incident, Barrot stated that the regime responsible had been violating international law for decades and stressed the importance of respecting the sovereignty and security of the country, Caliber.Az reports.

He added that France was prepared to take part in the defence of countries in the Persian Gulf region.
Barrot also called for an immediate halt to the military escalation, saying it must be stopped as soon as possible.
