Georgia breaks into Azerbaijan’s top ten trading partners
Georgia has officially entered the list of Azerbaijan’s top ten trading partners, as the country’s foreign trade turnover experienced steady growth in the first eight months of 2025, the State Customs Committee said.
According to official figures, from January to August 2025, Italy retained its position as Azerbaijan’s largest trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching $8.31 billion, representing 25.86% of Azerbaijan’s total trade volume. The trade turnover with Italy saw a notable 19.3% increase compared to the same period in 2024, Caliber.Az reports.
Türkiye ranked second, with a trade volume of $3.84 billion and an 11.97% share, though this marked a 7.9% decrease year-on-year. Russia followed in third place, recording $3.35 billion in trade turnover—a 13.5% increase from the previous year—accounting for 10.42% of total trade.
Other key trading partners during the reporting period included:
China – $2.94 billion (+28.4%), Germany – $1.03 billion (+5.2%), United Kingdom – $928.78 million (+60.9%), United States – $799.58 million (+4.8%), Czech Republic – $702.72 million (−9.8%), Kazakhstan – $547.58 million (3.2-fold increase), Georgia – $541.67 million (+32.3%)
Georgia’s entry into the top ten reflects both deepening economic ties and increased trade activity with Azerbaijan. Its 32.3% growth in bilateral trade places it just behind Kazakhstan in the rankings.
Overall, Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover from January to August 2025 totaled $32.12 billion, marking a 3.6% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This comes after a dip in total trade last year: in 2024, Azerbaijan recorded $47.61 billion in foreign trade, 7% lower than the figure for 2023.
