Georgian PM: Peace between Armenia, Azerbaijan key to political, economic progress

07 November 2025 14:02

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has underscored the importance of the newly signed peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, calling it a milestone for lasting stability and economic growth in the South Caucasus.

“The signing of a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia is set to foster lasting stability in the South Caucasus, a move that is vital for strengthening the political influence of countries in the region,” Kobakhidze said, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.

According to Kobakhidze, the accord will not only advance peace but also play a crucial role in enhancing the economic development of the nations involved.

“I regard this peace agreement as extremely important. Over the past 35 years, Georgia has played a pivotal role in promoting regional peace and continues to serve as a key partner for our neighbors, Armenia and Azerbaijan,” Kobakhidze said.

He highlighted Georgia’s economic ties with both countries, noting that these partnerships are fundamental to their economic growth. “This is why we warmly welcome the signing of a peace agreement between the two countries,” he added.

Kobakhidze pointed out that all three nations are currently experiencing robust economic growth, attributing this progress to peace and close cooperation among Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.

“Therefore, it is essential to continue on this path. This reflects Georgia’s vision for sustainable development and stability in the South Caucasus,” he concluded.
