House of Ukraine inaugurated in Baku to promote cultural ties
The House of Ukraine was officially opened in Baku, marking a significant step in fostering cultural exchange between Azerbaijan and Ukraine.
Olga Guseva, Head of the Ukrainian Cultural Centre in Azerbaijan, delivered a speech highlighting the Centre's mission to introduce Ukraine’s history, culture, and society to the Azerbaijani public, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The ceremony began with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Ukraine, with the Ukrainian anthem performed by Rimma Shapovalova, a People's Artist of Ukraine. A minute of silence was observed in memory of the Ukrainian lives lost during the ongoing conflict with Russia.
The Ukrainian Cultural Centre aims to represent Ukrainian culture with dignity and will host various courses and events. Among the first exhibitions was "Shattered Dreams," dedicated to the tragic events unfolding in Ukraine.
Ukrainian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Yuriy Gusev, congratulated the Azerbaijani people on State Flag Day and emphasized the importance of strengthening diplomatic, cultural, and humanitarian ties between the two countries.
"I highly appreciate the prospects of this centre's activities. I would like to express my gratitude to our local and international partners who supported the project, as well as the embassies of partner countries in Azerbaijan. Their friendship and support are crucial to us," said Ambassador Gusev.
He also thanked the Ukrainian diaspora around the world and expressed confidence that the House of Ukraine would play a pivotal role in deepening mutual understanding and enhancing cultural relations between Ukraine and Azerbaijan.
