Hundreds clash with police in Hague riots
Violent riots broke out in the Dutch district of Scheveningen, Hague, on the evening of May 1, as large groups of young people clashed with police, pelting officers with stones, bicycles, glassware, and other objects.
According to police, the unrest began around 9:00 p.m. local time after groups of youths — reportedly numbering between 100 and 300 — gathered following calls circulated on social media, possibly intending to fight. The situation quickly escalated when the crowd turned aggressive toward police officers, Caliber.az reports per Dutch media.

Riot police were deployed to restore order, engaging in hours-long efforts to disperse the crowd. Despite the use of mounted officers, a police helicopter, and repeated warnings urging rioters to leave the area, the violence continued until around midnight, when most of the participants finally dispersed.
The chaos prompted a large-scale police response. Despite this presence, the rioters continued throwing objects, and at least one police vehicle sustained damage when a window was smashed.
Authorities also halted tram and bus services in an effort to contain the situation.
