Iran arrests 16 over alleged online ties to Israel, subversive activities
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has detained a group of sixteen individuals in Lorestan Province accused of backing Israel and using online platforms to stir public unrest, according to an official statement.
The IRGC’s Public Relations Office in Lorestan announced that those arrested were described as “ringleaders, collaborators, and supporters of the Zionist regime,” who allegedly sought to disturb public opinion and undermine national unity through digital campaigns, Caliber.Az reports per Iranian media.
The arrests were carried out by the IRGC Intelligence Organisation, referred to in the statement as the “anonymous soldiers of Imam Mahdi.”
The individuals reportedly used social media and other online channels to spread disinformation, promote despair, and share content with foreign-based opposition media outlets.
Authorities warned that any actions—whether virtual or physical—that align with the objectives of “enemy forces” will be closely monitored.
The IRGC emphasised that such activities, including the spread of false narratives and efforts to erode public cohesion, will be met with strong legal consequences.
