Iran launches construction new nuclear power plant on Caspian Sea coast
Iran has launched a project to build another nuclear power plant in the northern province of Golestan, which has access to the Caspian Sea.
The announcement was made by Vice President and Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of the Islamic Republic (AEOI) Mohammad Eslami, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
"With great effort, we have managed to start the project for constructing a nuclear power plant on the coast of Golestan Province after finding a suitable site," the AEOI press service quoted him as saying.
Eslami also highlighted nuclear technology projects in health, food security, industry, and environmental protection, noting that multiple workstreams are underway in these areas within the AEOI.
He said that great opportunities exist in fields such as quantum science, laser technology, and nuclear fusion, which can ensure Iran’s leadership in these advanced sectors.
On the evening of November 1, President Masoud Pezeshkian visited the AEOI and met with senior officials of the nuclear industry. During the meeting, Mohammad Eslami and Head of the Nuclear Safety System Center Mohammadreza Kardan presented the president with reports on the current state of the nuclear industry.
