Iran’s Parliament to propose retaliatory measures for Israel’s assassination of Nasrallah
Iran’s Majlis (parliament) has initiated discussions on possible measures of “response and revenge” against Israel following the assassination of Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary general of Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement.
Lawmaker Ahmad Naderi said these proposals will be forwarded to the Supreme National Security Council for further deliberation, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
During a closed-door session held on Sunday, Iranian lawmakers reviewed the latest developments in the Middle East, particularly focusing on Israel’s actions. Naderi stated that several members of parliament have already put forward suggestions on how to respond to Israel for Nasrallah’s killing.
Once the proposals are submitted, the Supreme National Security Council will deliberate on them and make a final decision regarding Iran’s response to what Naderi described as “Israel’s crimes.”
Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf also addressed the assembly on Nasrallah’s assassination, stating that Israel resorted to "terror tactics" and "psychological operations" after facing significant setbacks on the battlefield.
According to Tasnim News Agency, Ghalibaf remarked that Israel, having failed to achieve its objectives through direct confrontation, has now launched a “complex hybrid war” against its adversaries.
Nilforushan was killed in an Israeli airstrike that also claimed the life of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, according to Iranian media reports.
The strike occurred in Beirut on September 27 as part of the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, which has pushed the conflict closer to becoming a full-scale regional confrontation.
Nilforushan, 58, held a senior position as the deputy commander for operations in the Revolutionary Guard, overseeing ground forces. His presence in Lebanon during the strike has raised questions, although his role in the region highlights Iran’s long-standing support of Hezbollah.
