Iran, Türkiye FMs discuss Middle East tensions
Foreign Ministers of Iran and Türkiye, Abbas Araghchi and Hakan Fidan, have discussed the ongoing military confrontation in the Middle East in a fresh phone call.
Referring to a recent four-way meeting of foreign ministers from Türkiye, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt in Islamabad, the Turkish foreign minister emphasised the region’s support for ending the war and establishing peace and stability, Caliber.Az reports via the Iranian Foreign Ministry's Telegram post.
“The Iranian foreign minister, detailing the current situation of the war instigated by the U.S. and the Israeli regime against Iran, highlighted the responsibility of all states to condemn the aggressors’ crimes, especially attacks on schools, universities, and research institutions, historical and cultural sites, industrial and energy facilities, as well as residential areas.
He stressed that threats from U.S. officials to attack Iran’s energy and industrial sites constitute criminal threats in themselves and reflect the U.S.’s blatant disregard for international law and humanitarian principles, calling for a decisive response from the international community.
Araghchi also called reports from some sources claiming Iran launched missiles toward Türkiye completely unfounded and, warning of possible repeated ‘false flag’ operations by enemies, stated: the Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to the principle of good-neighborliness, respects Türkiye’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and is ready for joint technical cooperation to verify any possible allegations,” the ministry said.
