Jewish News Syndicate: Azerbaijani oil hits record levels in Israel
Israel’s imports of Azerbaijani oil via the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline and then by sea reached a three-year high last year.
The data highlights the strong ties between the Jewish state and the Muslim-majority country in the South Caucasus, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Israeli newspaper Jewish News Syndicate.
Israel’s imports of Azerbaijani crude oil via the BTC pipeline rose 31% to 94,000 barrels per day in 2025. This is the highest level since 2022 and widens the gap with Russia, Israel’s second-largest oil supplier.
Kpler data shows that Azerbaijani oil accounted for 46.4% of Israel’s total oil imports last year—the highest share in the past decade—well ahead of Russia, which supplied about 28%.
“Azerbaijan is consistently expanding and strengthening the strategic partnership between our countries,” Roman Gurevich, honorary ambassador of the Jewish Agency in Baku, told JNS. “The data proves how reliable and strong a partner Israel has in Azerbaijan.”
For Tel Aviv, ties with Baku hold strategic significance. At the same time, Azerbaijan is a major buyer of Israeli military equipment. Its victory in 2020 significantly strengthened Baku’s regional position amid shifting geopolitical dynamics.
Three years ago, Azerbaijan made history by opening an embassy in Tel Aviv, publicly demonstrating its longstanding friendship with Israel.
