Journalist Sargsyan: Armenian army’s 3rd corps undermanned with officers, lacks combat posts
Former staff member of the Aravot newspaper, journalist Voskan Sargsyan, spoke about the deplorable state of affairs in the 3rd Army Corps of the Armenian Armed Forces, stationed on the border with Azerbaijan in the direction of Tovuz District.
Caliber.Az reports, citing his Facebook post.
The journalist writes that after the appointment of Col Alexander Tsakanyan to the post of corps commander, many officers, who did not want to serve under him, wrote a report and were fired.
Servicemen of the 3rd Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Armenia told the journalist about this. As a result of the dismissal of officers, many posts in this unit remain vacant. The journalist also writes that there are problems in the corps in the arrangement of combat posts.
Sargsyan adds that the 3rd Army Corps received a low rating from the Main Military Inspectorate of the Armenian Defense Ministry, and therefore, the corps commander, Col Tsakanyan, did not receive the rank of general.
The journalist claims that his sources in the Armenian Defense Ministry report that the issue of dismissing Alexander Tsakanyan from the post of corps commander was raised, but Defense Minister Suren Papikyan did not allow him to be fired, as he is interested in Tsakanyan continuing to remain in his position.
The journalist added that a group of officers of the 3rd Army Corps of the Armenian Armed Forces is being investigated within the framework of criminal cases. He promised to talk about them in the near future.
