Kazakhstan targets 35.5 billion cubic metres of commercial gas production by 2032
Kazakhstan plans to increase its commercial natural gas production to 35.5 billion cubic metres (bcm) by 2032, Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov said, outlining a strategy centred on expanding the country's gas processing capacity.
Akkenzhenov said commercial gas production is expected to reach 27.4 bcm in 2025, with further growth driven by the launch of several new gas processing plants over the coming years, Caliber.Az reports per Kazakh media.
The first gas processing plant at the Kashagan oil and gas field, with an annual processing capacity of 1 bcm, is scheduled to begin operations in 2027. In the same year, the Kazakh Gas Processing Plant in Zhanaozen, designed to process 0.9 bcm of gas annually, is also expected to come online.
By 2030, Kazakhstan plans to commission a second gas processing plant at Kashagan with an annual capacity of 2.5 bcm.
Authorities also plan to build a gas processing plant at the Karachaganak field capable of processing up to 5 bcm of gas per year, further supporting the country's long-term production targets.
