Khamenei’s death strengthens Iranian resolve, ambassador says
The death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has not led to internal divisions, but instead has strengthened national cohesion, Iranian Ambassador Khalil Shirgholami said during a press conference in Yerevan.
Shirgholami stressed that Iran’s adversaries had hoped the leader’s passing would create fragmentation, but their expectations proved misguided, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“They know neither our country nor our people. The death of the Supreme Leader has only strengthened the determination of Iranians to pursue national goals,” he said.
The ambassador also highlighted that some in Iranian society had placed trust in the promises of US President Donald Trump, yet those expectations ultimately resulted in human casualties and widespread destruction.
Addressing the son of Iran’s last Shah, 65-year-old Reza Pahlavi, who resides in the United States, Shirgholami noted that Pahlavi continues to hope for a return to Iran and had released a statement expressing regret over the deaths of American soldiers. He further underscored that more than 100 children were killed in a recent US-Israeli strike, declining to comment further.
