Kremlin stresses respect for sovereignty of other states
The Kremlin has reaffirmed Russia’s sensitivity to the sovereignty of other nations.
Speaking at a briefing for Indian media, presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Russia takes the principle of state sovereignty very seriously, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
“We are very sensitive to this right to sovereignty, and we are equally careful to ensure that no one obstructs our benefits or national interests,” Peskov told reporters.
He praised India for its independence in defending its national interests and expressed admiration for the country’s approach.
The briefing also highlighted the historically close ties between Russia and India. Peskov noted that the bilateral relationship is founded on a long-standing tradition of cooperation and a shared outlook on global affairs, grounded in respect for international law, the rule of law, and mutual consideration of each other’s interests.
The comments come ahead of Indian discussions on potential fighter jet purchases from Russia during President Vladimir Putin’s visit.
