Kyrgyzstan, Japan agree to expand cooperation in labor migration
Negotiations aimed at expanding cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Japan in the field of employment was held in Tokyo.
Kyrgyz Minister of Labor, Social Security and Migration Kanatbek Sagynbaev held a meeting with Hideharu Maruyama, Commissioner of the Japanese Immigration Agency, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kyrgyz media.
During the discussions, the parties reviewed the progress of the “Tokutei Gino” (Specified Skilled Worker) project, which aims to attract foreign specialists to sectors of the Japanese economy facing labor shortages.
The expansion of employment opportunities for Kyrgyz citizens in areas such as tourism, construction, agriculture, and elderly care was also discussed.
As a result of the meeting, a decision was made to establish special centres in Kyrgyzstan to prepare candidates for employment in Japan. The project will be implemented with the support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), which will ensure training in accordance with Japanese qualification standards and language requirements.
Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to sign an interagency agreement aimed at strengthening institutional cooperation and ensuring transparency in migration processes.
Cooperation with Japan is expected to provide Kyrgyzstan with opportunities to train highly qualified personnel, reduce dependence on traditional labor markets, and attract investment in human capital development.
