Latvian ex-president: Azerbaijan becomes alternative source of energy supplies

Former Latvian President and Co-chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center Vaira Vike-Freiberga has said that Azerbaijan has become a hub.

“Presently, Azerbaijan has become an alternative source of energy supplies, without any political agenda, free from political pressure. Russia uses energy supplies as a tool of political pressure,” the ex-president told Report.

She said that Azerbaijan is also becoming a hub for "green", renewable energy sources.

"Renewable energy sources are the future. Azerbaijan does not rely only on natural resources and reserves of traditional energy resources in the country. It invests huge funds in the development of new technologies, which is important for our planet,” President Vike-Freiberga said.
