Maldives, Azerbaijan look to boost cooperation in key sectors through strategic dialogue
The Maldivian Foreign Ministry has said that the Maldives is expressing interest in strengthening economic ties with Azerbaijan and expanding cooperation between the business communities of both countries.
The ministry highlighted that an Azerbaijani delegation, led by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov, participated in the recent Information Forum, aimed at showcasing the Maldives' investment opportunities in various sectors, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The forum primarily focused on investment opportunities in such sectors as renewable energy, environment, housing, infrastructure, real estate, sustainable tourism, logistics, transportation, and aviation.
The Azerbaijani delegation, composed of government officials and representatives from leading Azerbaijani companies, will be in the Maldives until January 16.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has approved an agreement between the governments of Azerbaijan and the Maldives, exempting holders of diplomatic, service, and official passports from mutual visa requirements.
The agreement was signed in Baku on November 15, 2024.
