Media: Türkiye emerges as global automotive manufacturing hub with Intl investments

31 March 2025 13:05

Türkiye is making significant strides toward establishing itself as a global leader in automotive manufacturing, driven by strategic investments and an expanding industry.

This growth is underscored by the recent decisions of two major international companies to invest in Türkiye, highlighting the country’s increasing competitiveness within the global market, Caliber.Az reports via Star.

According to A. Burak Dağlıoğlu, President of the Presidential Investment and Finance Office, Türkiye’s ongoing efforts to enhance its automotive sector are yielding impressive results. “The recent decisions by two international firms to invest in Türkiye within the framework of the HIT-30 incentive programme, announced by our President, is one of the strongest indicators of our country’s increasing global competitiveness,” Dağlıoğlu said.

Türkiye has long been a key player in the automotive industry. The country’s growth in the sector has been marked by a series of international investments, with Chinese giant BYD and Chery, another Chinese automaker, making significant moves. BYD’s decision to invest in Türkiye last year was followed by Chery’s plan to establish a $1 billion manufacturing campus in Samsun, focusing on electric vehicles and the supply industry.

These developments reflect Türkiye’s ambition to become a critical hub for global automotive production. With its strategic location offering quick access to European and Middle Eastern markets, Türkiye’s strong logistics infrastructure, skilled workforce, and expanding supplier network make it an attractive destination for international investors.

“Türkiye has developed a strong functional infrastructure that allows it to design, develop, and manufacture vehicles, reaching the final stages of the value chain. This, combined with a broad product range from passenger cars to light commercial vehicles and heavy-duty trucks, contributes to Türkiye’s rising importance as a global automotive manufacturing centre,” Dağlıoğlu added.

The sector’s success is also attributed to the policies implemented under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Over the past two decades, Türkiye’s automotive competitiveness has seen significant growth, aligning with global trends such as electrification. The emergence of TOGG, Türkiye's first domestically produced electric vehicle, further underscores the nation’s progress.

Dağlıoğlu highlighted that Türkiye’s competitive edge extends beyond the automotive sector, with investments also flowing into industries such as green energy, innovative technologies, and high-value manufacturing. As part of its 2030 Industrial and Technology Strategy, Türkiye is promoting investment opportunities across multiple sectors, ensuring a diversified and sustainable economic future.

“We expect investments across various sectors to continue accelerating, as we aim to make the 'Century of Türkiye' also the 'Century of Investment', presenting unmatched opportunities to global businesses through our ‘Connection Point of the World’ campaign,” Dağlıoğlu concluded.

With these developments, Türkiye’s ambitions to become a leading global player in the automotive and other high-tech industries are becoming increasingly evident, as international companies continue to place their trust in the country’s growing market potential.
