Medvedev threatens EU with war if it appropriates Russian assets
Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, has warned that any attempt by the European Union to seize Russian assets could be regarded as a “casus belli”—a cause for war.
In a post on his Telegram channel, Medvedev specifically referred to Russian assets blocked in Belgium, Caliber.Az reports.
He wrote that if the "maddenend" EU attempts to appropriate the assets under the guise of a reparations loan, such actions could be classified under international law "as a special type of casus belli", with all the resulting consequences for Brussels and individual EU countries.
He added that, in that scenario, the return of these funds might no longer occur through legal channels, but rather through actual reparations paid in kind by defeated adversaries of Russia.
