Minister: Agro sector greatly important in Azerbaijan's economy

Azerbaijan is one of the main participants of the green transition, recognised as a global priority at present.

Mukhtar Babayev, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, President of COP29, said this at the session "Sustainable path to a green future: joint activities during and after COP29" held within the framework of the VI World Forum of Intercultural Dialogue on the theme "Intergenerational dialogue for peace and global security" in Baku, Report informs.

"Today, the transition to an economically sustainable, clean and healthy future is one of the most pressing challenges. It is also a great responsibility we face as a society. Given the increasing pollution, decreasing natural resources and growing demand worldwide, the transition to a green economy is of great importance," he said.

According to him, the agricultural sector is of great importance in the economy of Azerbaijan, which is the most affected by climate change.
