MP: Europe, Iran, Russia, US start “eyeing Armenia askance”

A negative attitude has been shaped towards Armenia in Europe, Iran, Russia, and the US, said Armenian MP Artur Khachatryan.

The member of the ultra-nationalist party Dashnaktsutyun and pro-opposition "Armenia" bloc said during a parliamentary debate on February 9 that relations between Armenia and Russia have never been so tense as now, which is admitted even by the current authorities, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Armenian media.

"Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's latest statement is a vivid confirmation of that. There is no need to create the illusion that there are problems with the CSTO [Collective Security Treaty Organization] and that relations with the Russian Federation are as beautiful and appetising as ‘Vdokhnovenie’ [inspiration] chocolate," Khachatryan said.

He noted that the US State Department's claims that corruption in Armenia hinders investment are neither coincidental.
