No separate Armenia-Azerbaijan talks planned in Moscow, says Russian official
No separate negotiations between Armenian and Azerbaijani representatives are planned during the upcoming meeting of senior security officials in Moscow, according to Russian Deputy Security Council Secretary Alexey Shevtsov.
In an interview with Russian media, Shevtsov clarified that there are no formal trilateral meetings in the format of “Russia-Azerbaijan-Armenia” on the agenda, per Caliber.Az.
“If we are talking about formal trilateral meetings in the format of ‘Russia-Azerbaijan-Armenia,’ then no, they are not planned. The event’s program is very full and does not allow for additional narrow-format negotiations,” he stated.
However, Shevtsov added that both the Azerbaijani and Armenian delegations have been invited to take part not only in the plenary sessions and seminars, but also in the traditional working session for CIS countries.
It should be noted that the meeting of high representatives chaired by the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu, will be held in Moscow on 27-29 May at the Rossiya National Centre. More than 125 delegations from more than 100 countries from the Global South and East, the CIS, the CSTO, the EAEU, the SCO and 14 international organisations have confirmed their participation.
The International Meeting of High Representatives in charge of security issues has been held under the auspices of the Russian Security Council since 2010.
