North Macedonia to deepen ties with Azerbaijan, says President Siljanovska-Davkova
North Macedonia will continue to prioritise active engagement with Azerbaijan, with cooperation in energy, information technology, tourism and culture among the key pillars of its foreign policy, President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova has said.
Speaking to Report’s Turkish bureau on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Türkiye, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova underlined what she described as the strong current state of relations between Baku and Skopje, expressing confidence that ties would deepen further in the coming period.
Recalling her visit to Azerbaijan last year, the president highlighted what she called “productive” discussions held at multiple levels.
“During my visit to Baku, there was a broad exchange of views not only with President Ilham Aliyev but also with a number of ministers. I met with Ilham Aliyev on several occasions and was deeply impressed by his level of preparation and proactive approach to global issues, particularly on such an important topic as climate change,” she said.
She also pointed to the growing cooperation with the International Centre for Nizami Ganjavi, describing it as an example of successful partnership frameworks involving Azerbaijan.
“We are always open to our Azerbaijani partners. Our principle is that cooperation should not be limited to Europe alone, but should extend to wider regions. In this direction, we intend to continue active dialogue,” Siljanovska-Davkova added.
The Antalya Diplomacy Forum, held in Türkiye, has become a key platform for international dialogue, bringing together global leaders to discuss regional and global challenges.
