Official: Azerbaijan vows to advance implementation of COP29 outcomes
The Copenhagen Climate Ministerial provides an important platform for ministers and climate leaders to exchange views and strengthen political momentum ahead of COP31, Azerbaijan’s top climate official said on May 19.
Mukhtar Babayev, Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Climate Issues and COP29 President, said on X that the discussions come at a critical moment for global climate diplomacy amid rising climate impacts and mounting pressure on multilateral cooperation.
He added that the talks were essential for rebuilding trust and accelerating delivery on existing commitments.

“At a time of growing climate impacts and increasing pressure on multilateral cooperation, these discussions are critical for strengthening trust, accelerating implementation and advancing progress on key priorities including climate finance, adaptation, NDCs and the Global Stocktake outcomes,” he said.
"Azerbaijan remains committed to supporting continuity across COP Presidencies and advancing implementation of key outcomes achieved at COP29," Babayev said.
