Officials discuss Nakhchivan's communication, transport development prospects
Azerbaijan’s Digital Development and Transport Minister Rashad Nabiyev and Presidential Plenipotentiary in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Fuad Najafli discussed Nakhchivan's development prospects in communications and transport.
Heads of relevant structures of the autonomous republic also took part in the meeting, Report informs.
Issues related to the "State Program on Social and Economic Development of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for 2023-2027" approved by President Ilham Aliyev were discussed at the meeting.
The sides touched upon perspective plans for the rapid development of telecommunications, transport, digitalisation, mobile communications, mail and other spheres in Nakhchivan, specific directions were defined and a working group for planning, coordination and analysis of the forthcoming works was set up.
As part of the visit, the guests laid flowers at the monument of national leader Heydar Aliyev in Nakhchivan's main square and then toured the museum.
On June 5, Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on the "State program of socio-economic development of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for 2023-2027".
The program was adopted in order to ensure the sustainability of Nakhchivan's economic development, improve infrastructure and social services, increase employment and material well-being of the population.
In particular, it is planned to create a free economic zone in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Legal entities and individuals will receive tax, customs, insurance, social and other benefits.
Also, a special customs regime (zone) will be created in Nakhchivan, providing benefits for the payment of customs duties (except for goods produced in Azerbaijan).
According to the program, low-budget air transport companies will organise regular passenger and cargo transportation between Nakhchivan and local and foreign airports. In addition, projects for the development of transport infrastructure will be implemented.
Additionally, a youth development centre will be created and an English-speaking secondary school will be established at Nakhchivan State University, new private educational and medical institutions will start operating, and a new boarding school will be built.
