Ombudsman's Office to take all measures to ensure rights of voters Azerbaijani Human Rights Commissioner says
Azerbaijani Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva has said that her office continues preparations for the upcoming election process, all necessary measures will be taken to ensure the rights of voters.
She made the remarks at a round table on "Ensuring the electoral right of citizens", Report informs.
She noted that in the world practice elections are a process that allows citizens to massively participate in the political life of the country.
"The upcoming elections will be the first to be held throughout Azerbaijan. This makes the elections even more important," Aliyeva said.
Ilham Aliyev has been serving as the president of Azerbaijan since October 31, 2003, and is the fourth president of the country.
He was reelected for a second term in 2008 and was allowed to run in elections indefinitely in 2013 and 2018 as part of the 2009 constitutional referendum, which removed term limits for presidents.
Throughout his electoral campaign, President Aliyev has been a member of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, which he has headed since 2005.
