Over 3,000 people arrive in Georgia from Israel
Georgian Ambassador Lasha Zhvania has said that over 3,000 people arrived in Georgia from Israel, which is in a state of war.
He made the remarks on the air of Rustavi 2 TV channel.
The flights Tel Aviv-Batumi, Tel Aviv-Kutaisi and Tel Aviv-Tbilisi arrived as citizens of Georgia, as well as citizens of Israel and holders of dual citizenship. There were not enough flights, so additional flights were scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday. Tickets were sold out in 20 minutes.
"We are working with Georgian Airways to add more flights in the following days, possibly October 13-15. These flights will continue as long as there is demand from those wishing to travel from Israel to Georgia. Naturally, the emphasis is on our citizens," Zhvania said.
According to official data, 120,000 Georgian citizens live in Israel. The Georgian Embassy in Israel is working in emergency mode. In case of need, the embassy is ready to provide Georgian citizens with various things and shelter.
