Three killed in hangar collapse in Russia's Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk
Three people have died after a hangar under construction collapsed in the Russian city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, and their bodies have been recovered from the debris, the regional government reported.
The Sakhalin Regional Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) stated on its Telegram channel that the incident occurred the afternoon of November 28 on Energetikov Street.
Seven individuals were trapped under the rubble, four of whom sustained injuries. All four were promptly rescued and are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
Debris removal operations were completed overnight into Saturday, with 70 personnel involved, including two canine units, and 18 pieces of equipment deployed.
Authorities have opened a criminal investigation into the collapse. The chief engineer of the construction company has been detained, and officials are currently considering whether to place him under arrest.
The ministry noted that the collapse occurred during the concrete pouring process, affecting a section of the two-story hangar being built on Energetikov Street.
