Pakistani PM concludes state visit to Azerbaijan
The state visit of Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to Azerbaijan has officially concluded.
At Heydar Aliyev International Airport, the Prime Minister was bid farewell by Azerbaijan’s First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yalchin Rafiyev, and other senior officials, marking the end of his visit, Caliber.Az reports.
The Pakistani prime minister's two-day visit from February 24 to February 25 marked a significant moment in the growing bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev personally welcomed Prime Minister Sharif upon his arrival. The two leaders then held an expanded meeting, during which they discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between their countries across various sectors.
As part of the visit, Prime Minister Sharif paid his respects by laying a wreath at the Victory Monument, honoring the sacrifices made during Azerbaijan's 44-day victory in the second Karabakh war.
On the same day, Azerbaijan and Pakistan signed several key agreements aimed at bolstering their partnership. These included memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in critical areas such as energy, customs, agriculture, environmental protection, and education.
Among the notable agreements were partnerships between Azerbaijan’s State Oil Company (SOCAR) and Pakistan’s Frontier Works Organisation and Pakistan State Oil Company, alongside an MoU on liquefied natural gas (LNG) transactions.
Another significant MoU focused on fostering collaboration between Nakhchivan and Lahore, with an emphasis on areas like culture, tourism, and urban development.
These agreements reflect the strengthening of ties between the two nations and their shared commitment to expanding cooperation for mutual benefit.
