Pashinyan abusing ties with France and its UNSC status – presidential envoy

13 November 2023 13:28

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is abusing relations between his country and France, as well as its status as a permanent member of the UN Security Council.

An article by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty quotes Azerbaijani presidential representative for special assignments Elchin Amirbayov as saying, Report informs.

Amirbayov noted that the struggle to restore independence, territorial integrity, and sovereignty has been the main motive of Azerbaijan over the past 20-plus years since the occupation of Karabakh by Armenians.

“Now this issue has been settled. We have restored historic justice."

In his opinion, although revanchist sentiments in Armenia are strongest among the political opposition, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also does not hesitate to express such ideas.

“The first step that would serve as a signal [that Armenia has abandoned revanchism] would be for Pashinyan to clearly express - not through declarations, but through real actions - that he does not view the outcome of the latest military escalation in the region as something that he should dispute,” says E. Amirbayov.

The representative of the Azerbaijani president recalled that during the first war between Azerbaijan and Armenia, more than 600,000 ethnic Azerbaijanis were forced to leave the territories captured by the Armenians.

“The Azerbaijani government is currently spending billions to clear mines and restore these areas to make the return of former residents possible. This should become a unifying factor for Azerbaijanis,” Elcin Amirbayov emphasized.

“I think that now the idea of Azerbaijan, the national idea, is to strengthen peace and improve the life of the country that was an independent state, but never had a chance to fully develop all its territories,” he said.

“The most important task for the coming decades will be the return of normal life to these liberated territories.”
