Pashinyan hails international legitimacy as key to Armenia’s security
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that the army should not be the sole mechanism for ensuring the country’s security, as he spoke before senior military officers on Army Day, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“International legitimacy should come first. The second layer is interconnectedness that enhances external security. Yes, we have seen: a tank and a soldier stood there—so what? Did our level of security improve? On the contrary… We need an environment of relations with the outside world in which Armenia becomes an integral part of the global supply network, whose security and stability matters to many others, including neighboring countries and superpowers. Conversely, destabilization would be seen as a threat to the region and the international community,” Pashinyan said.
The Prime Minister highlighted projects such as Crossroads of Peace and TRIPP (Trump Route), which facilitate the movement of goods from east to west and north to south, creating broad opportunities for Armenia.
“We rely precisely on this strategic perception, considering it the guarantee of our security,” Pashinyan added, underscoring the country’s focus on international legitimacy and regional integration as key pillars of its defence strategy.
