Putin calls five-hour Kremlin meeting with US envoys “very useful”

04 December 2025 12:05

Russian President Vladimir Putin has described his recent meeting in Moscow with U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner as both necessary and useful, TASS reports, citing Putin's interview with India Today.

Putin said the discussion lasted five hours, noting that its length was due to the need to go through each point of the proposed peace plan in detail.

“The proposals brought by the American side to Moscow were, in one way or another, based on agreements with U.S. President Donald Trump in Alaska,” Putin said.

“The American side divided the 27 points of Trump’s plan into four packages and suggested discussing them separately.”

He added, “But the meeting was necessary. It was very useful.”

This Moscow session was the latest in a series of Trump administration-led negotiations aimed at brokering a ceasefire before the war's fourth anniversary in February 2026. It followed U.S.-Ukraine talks in Geneva (November 23) and Miami (November 30), where the plan was trimmed from 28 to 19 points to address Kyiv's concerns over sovereignty and NATO aspirations.
