Putin sends festive Novruz greetings to CIS, Iranian leaders
In a gesture of goodwill, Russian President Vladimir Putin extended heartfelt Nowruz greetings to the leaders of six Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) republics, as well as to Iranian officials.
The Kremlin press service confirmed the congratulatory messages, highlighting the strengthening of strategic partnerships between Russia and its neighbours, per Caliber.Az.
In his message, President Putin expressed his confidence that the close ties between the countries would continue to grow, fostering mutual benefit for their friendly peoples.
The Kremlin emphasized that the Russian leader had personally asked for the best wishes to be relayed to the citizens of these states on this festive occasion.
The recipients of Putin’s Novruz greetings included President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, President Sadyr Zhaparov of Kyrgyzstan, President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan, and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan.
In addition to the CIS leaders, Putin also sent his warm wishes to the Iranian leadership, conveying his congratulations to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Novruz, which translates from Farsi as "new day," is a vibrant holiday that marks the arrival of spring and the beginning of the new year. Celebrated on March 21st, it is a public holiday in several countries, including Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Georgia, Albania, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Türkiye, and Kazakhstan, as well as by many Turkic-speaking communities across the region.
